KFAD Mark I (2004-2005)

On a historic night in 2004, Johnny Sahs saw Simon Levene perform at an open-mic at the legendary Druid’s Arms in Louisville. Mightily impressed by Simon’s version of “Mad John” by the Small Faces, a more than slightly ale-filled Johnny informed him that he needed to find some other musicians, as he already had a drummer. One meeting at Simon's house later, Simon agreed, and the search for a bass player led them to Taco Bell enthusiast and player extraordinaire George Hosni. After their debut performance in May of 2004, the intrepid trio set out to play some more shows and record an album, Mission Statement. George’s fortunes, however, ultimately led him elsewhere, leaving Simon and Johnny bassless for a time. Determined to continue, they searched for a replacement, only to find it in…a returning George. But once again, life led George to other endeavors, and KFAD had to wait for…

KFAD Mark II (2005-2006)

Before George left again, he let Simon know of a bass player known enigmatically as “Goose”. Simon invited him to rehearse at Johnny’s house in late 2005. The trio clicked immediately, almost magically, and Goose was to be part of KFAD from that day on. A few gigs were played with this trio, but Johnny had something in mind…something bigger. And he found the answer right in his own disbanding cover band…

KFAD Mark III (2006-present)

Vicar Jannatpour was a guitarist that had played with Johnny in both the Young Urban Misfits and the Peculiars. Determined to never play in a band without him again, Johnny invited him to a KFAD rehearsal, and Vicar officially joined in time for a gig in May, 2006. Their sound now complete, the quartet proceeded to play a whole bunch of shows and record the second KFAD LP, Modernism in 2007. Along the way they garnered airplay and positive critical notice, as well as an ever-growing fan base. In 2008, KFAD was featured on 99.5 the Mountain’s Homegrown Music CD, and also released an extended EP, Songs From the Neon Boneyard. “Here Comes Summer” from that EP was performed live on television that same year. 2009 saw the release of a new LP, Ghost In the Slipstream, additional airplay, press and TV appearances...and our fifth anniversary celebration! 2010 shall soon see our latest release, The Lights Are On And Shining For The Masses!  Who knows what the future may hold...but we're sure it will be great!
